KAMPALA– Two people have been confirmed dead & Eight others injured in a fatal crash at Kawaala Junction in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality.
According to traffic Police department Spokesman SP Michael Kananura, the crash involved Motor vehicle No. UAQ 539E Mitsubishi Fuso & Motorcycles No. UFS 111, UEP 598K & UFU 872P (all Bajaj Boxers). This took place on Sunday January 28th 2024 at 12:40pm.
According to preliminary reports, the driver of the said motor vehicle while at Kawaala Junction from Kazo side sloping into the junction, failed to break and rammed into the said motor cycles and pedestrians, killing 2 people instantly.
Kananura told the press that among the deceased was a passenger on one of the motorcycles, and a rider.
He adds that eight other people including pedestrians, riders and passangers on motorcycles were left injured.
The injured have been rushed to Mulago for treatment as bodies were conveyed to Mulago mortuary for postmortem examination.
Both the motor vehicle and motor cycles have been towed to Nabweru Police Station pending inspection.
Kananura confided to this reporter that investigations into the cause are underway and the hunt for the driver who is on the run has commenced.
