NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 22 year old man identified as Turyatunga Hakim a resident of Mukayaga Trading Center in Ndeeba cell in Nyakatunguru Ward in Kihiihi Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists today morning that it’s alleged that on Saturday night, the deceased left Kihiihi Town going home and on his way he was with Byamukama Shaban and they passed in one of the Bars at Mukayaga Trading Center where they found one Nicholas with the owner of the Bar.
Byamukama claimed that he left the deceased in the bar and went home, but the following morning the deceased was found lying unconscious on the way along the road to his home by his brother Mubarak who took him to Kigezi community Medical Centre in critical condition where he died yesterday night.
Maate explained that the Police was informed by Benon Twongyirwe and a team visited and documented the scene, statements recorded from witnesses to assist in investigation and postmortem examination was accordingly done.
Maate said that the deceased had a big injury on the head and efforts to get those involved in his assault that resulted into death are being made so that are brought to book for justice and the case was registered at Kihihi Police Station under reference number CRB 67/2024 to help in further investigations to net the assailants.
