NEWS– The government of is through the Uganda Investment Authority is set to host the 3rd Uganda – EU Business Forum starting on 5th March and end 7th March 2024 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The business relations between Africa and Europe date 600 years ago where Africa exchanged valuable ivory, gold and other minerals for low value manufactured products like glass, mirrors.
According to the Chairman of Uganda Investment Authority Morrison Rwakakamba, this trend has fundamentally changed and now Uganda exports more US 800 million dollars to European Union and imports US 700 million worth of goods from the European Union.
Rwakakamba told journalists that the upcoming Uganda – EU Business Forum will deepen this trade balance trend as Uganda as Uganda as a country seek to attract more EU investors to bolster value addition and export readiness for coffee, pharmaceuticals, electronics, minerals, tourism and edible oils.
Over 1000 EU prospective investors are expected to attend the Forum and the match-making with Ugandan investors is ongoing to ensure smooth registration of the participants.
The Uganda – EU Business Forum (UEUBF) is one of the largest business meetings in Uganda designed to mobilise investments into Uganda and strengthen Ugandan exports, contributing to the partnership between Uganda and the European Union.
Through networking, participants learn about policy orientations, identify trade and investment opportunities, discuss challenges, develop business strategies, and establish durable business partnerships to promote sustainable and inclusive growth in Uganda.
During tbe last two Business Forums editions held in Uganda, The Uganda – EU Business Forum has brought together policymakers, local entrepreneurs, international investors, business support organisations, financiers, industry experts, academics and civil society.
The upcoming Uganda – EU Business Forum 2024, now strives to boost trade and investments in the key economic sectors that offer significant opportunities for European investors to develop partnerships with entrepreneurs in Uganda especially in agribusiness minerals, sustainable mining and value addition and enabling infrastructure in energy, ICT and sustainable tourism.
The theme of this year’s The Uganda – EU Business Forum is “Boosting Trade and Investments” with the sub-theme of “What can Uganda gain from Global Gateway”.
Uganda-EU Business Forum is organised by the EU together with its Member States, in partnership with the GoU and the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) under the Sustainable Business for Uganda (SB4U) Team Europe Initiative.
