KIGEZI- The territorial police in Kabale are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of three people and others critically injured after they were involved in a single motor accident.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesman told the press that identified the motorvehicle that caused the tragedy as UAQ 372M Toyota Corolla gray in colour that was being driven by 30 year old Tumukunde Isaac, a resident of Kinyame village, Kahunge sub county Kabale district.
Police identified the injured victims as 51 year old Byaruhanga Aben, a primary teacher, resident of Kinyame village, Kahunge Sub County in Kabale District, 55 year old Ashakimana Moses a mufumbira by tribe, primary teacher resident of Kinyame village, Kahunge Sub County in Kabale District
The third injured victim is 12 year old Tumukunde Ismael a primary pupil at Katojo primary school, (P3) son of Byaruhanga Aben, a resident of Kinyame village, Kahunge Sub County in Kabale District and 18 year peasant Akampurira Abraham, resident of Kinyame village, Kahunge Sub County in Kabale District.
Maate identified the deceased persons as 37 year old Nanteza Loyce, 48 year old Bugarukene Oliver and Ninsiima Kate, all peasant residents of Kinyame village, Kahunge Sub County in Kabale District
The Police spokesman notes that the accident occurred on Saturday, 25th day of January 2025 at about 20:00hrs at Mushenyi B village along Bigaaga – Katojo village access road in Kabale District.
Its alleged that motorvehicle UAQ 372M while was from Bigaaga to Katojo direction, the driver went off road to his left hand side and the vehicle went off road overturning down a steep slope to the gardens.
The driver jumped out and is still at large while the deceaseds’ bodies were removed by residents and taken to Kabale regional referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination as the injured also were rushed to Kabale regional referral Hospital for treatment.
The scene was visited by no 43028 Cpl Mugabo Christopher, sketch map drawn, as by press time, the motor vehicle was still at the scene pending removal by a breakdown as inquiries are at hand to establish the likely cause.
In another devastating accident, one other person died from a motor accident in Kanungu district on Saturday 25th January 2025 at around 2150HRS.
The Kanungui road crash is said to have happened Karoni Cell, Nyamirama Sub County near Legends Bar Executive along Nyamirama-Ishasha Road.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesman intimated to the press that motorcycle registration number UGH 046X being Riden By One Martin M/A Aged 23years Old Mukiga Boda Boda Rider Resident Of Rwemishinya Cell Nyamirama and another one UGH 047P Being Riden By One Ndyanabangi Evaristo M/A Aged 50 Years Old Mukiga Resident Of Karukondo Cell Nyakashure Parish Nyamirama Sub County were involved in the crash.
Maate identified the deceased persons as Ndyanabangi Evaristo and Martin all riders of the motorcycles involved in the crash.
According to Maate, it’s Alleged That, The Rider Of Motorcycle Reg No UGH 046X Was Riding On One Way And Rammed Into Motorcycle Reg No UGH 047P that Was Riding On His Lane And Died On Spot.
The Scene Was Visited By Pc Matanda, The Body Was Taken To Nyamirama H/C III Mortuary, Both Motorcycles Parked At Nyamirama Police Pending IOV inspection and the Victim Was Rushed To Kambuga Hospital.
