Rukungiri district police has seven people in detention all residents of Kazinga cell Bunono parish in Nyarushanje sub county Rukungiri district on charges of alleged murder.
They were arrested on Sunday Feb 23rd 2020 suspected to have killed Pauson Muhwezi 40 years on the night of 22/2/2020 in a bar brawl.
The suspects are Mujurizi Mercy, Kyomukama Evas, Kanyaakire Agnes, Mwije Alex, Natukunda, Behangana Paddyson and Tumukunde Rogers
The deceased is been a mansion and a resident of the same area who was at a drinking spree of Mujurizi Mercy and Behangana Jovia at Akatusi trading centre together with Rogers, Alex, Kyomukama and Natukunda.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesman, the deceased developed a misunderstanding with the said group due to yet to be established issues as he was drunk.
Maate added that Muhwezi was assaulted to death by the said group and sustained injuries on the head and hands.
The police spokesman now calls upon the public to always seek advice from relevant authorities other than killing the innocent residents.
“It is very unfortunate that this man was killed in such un acceptable manner, however it’s my appeal to the communities to distance themselves from such unlawlessness acts which may see them end up in jail” Maate noted.
By press time, the body of the deceased was still lying at Rwakabengo HC3 pending post mortem as inquiries take course at Rukungiri central police station vide CRB 379/2020.
