RUBIRIZI– A serious accident that later turned fatal has claimed the life of a 52 year old woman along the Ishaka – Kasese highway.
The accident happened at Nyakasharu Trading center in Rubirizi district on Wednesday 28th February 2024 at around 2:50pm and involved motorcycle registration number UFX 231W and motorvehicle registration number 022Z canter white in colour. The motorcycle and motorvehicle collided.
The deceased is Gumisiriza Denavis a female adult aged 52, a resident of Nkondo B, Nyakiyanja parish, Ryeru sub – county in Rubirizi district who was the passenger on the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorvehicle WaccoJahab Abubakar, a 37 year old musoga and driver with Medequip Uganda Limited and the rider Tumwesigye Robert 28 years from Ryeru in Rubirizi district were rushed to Rugazi Health center IV for medical attention. The body of the deceased was also at the same health facility mortuary pending postmortem.
By press time, police led by IP Tumwebaze Richard had already visited the scene and the motorcycle/vehicle were parked at police pending IOV Inspection.
The Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed this incident to our reporter and warned against reckless driving which he says is one of the leading causes of accidents in the country.
