NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District have registered a fatal accident that occurred near Two Stars Hotel in Nyamwegabira along the Kihihi – Kanungu road that claimed the life of 70 year old woman identified as Nyamushemeire Rehoniya.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate has confirmed the accident that involved unknown motorcyclist who fled the scene immediately after the accident.
It is reported that the late Nyamushemeire who is a resident of Nyamwegabira and a member of the Parish Church choir was crossing the road from one side heading back to the church when she was knocked and died instantly on spot.
Maate explained that the scene of the accident was visited by Traffic Police led by PC Matanda who retrieved the body and conveyed it to Kihihi Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination as the Policd continue to hunt for the unknown rider of the motorcycle.
Meanwhile the Police in Kabale District are hunting for a Tumuhereze Maritazari who allegedly murdered his five years old biological child Turyasingura Remegio a resident of Kasiru village Nyombe parish Kahungye Sub-county.
It’s alleged that while at Kasiru Trading Centre, the suspect developed a misunderstanding with his wife Tumwebaze Agnes whom he suspected to have produced the said child with another man when he was away for seven years.
It is reported that Tumuhereze first assaulted his wife at the bar of Rogers he proceeded to their home alone, picked a panga, chopped the deceased into pieces and ran away after killing him instantly.
Upon receiving the information, a case of murder was opened at Kahungye Police Station and Kabale Homicide team under the command of Barijunaki Samuel, the Acting OC CID visited the scene of crime examined and documented it and the body was examined at the scene, and statements recorded from relevant witnesses.
Maate explained that the suspect is still on run and investigations are on going as efforts to get the suspect apprehended are being made
