President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday welcomed and held a meeting with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Abdel Fattah el-Sisi who was in Uganda on official State Visit.

The two leaders held discussions aimed at strengthening the long-standing cooperation between Uganda and Egypt in advancing the interests of Africa as a continent.

The meeting took place at State House Entebbe and the discussions centered on strengthening Uganda-Egypt relations in the areas of trade, industrialisation, renewable energy, fish farming and water resource management.

President Museveni shared with his Egyptian counterpart the need to support large-scale fish farming as a way of protecting wetlands, creating jobs and helping our people transition from subsistence agriculture to commercial production.

President Museveni and President Fattah el-Sisi also discussed the importance of electricity and manufacturing in driving socio-economic transformation and further exchanged views on regional peace and stability, emphasizing dialogue and African cooperation in resolving conflicts.

President El-Sisi who arrived in Uganda from attending the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya congratulated President Museveni upon being sworn-in as President of Uganda for the next 5 years.
