President Museveni appreciates historic relationship between Uganda and Mozambique

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday May 14th welcomed and held a meeting with the President of Mozambique, His Excellency Daniel Francisco Chapo, who was on his first visit to Uganda.

President Museveni said that appreciated the historic relationship between Uganda and Mozambique, especially the support Mozambique extended to FRONASA fighters who trained in Montepuez during the liberation struggle.

The meeting was held at State House Entebbe and the two leaders discussed matters of national and regional importance, particularly security and the continued cooperation between our two countries.

Later in the evening President Museveni held fruitful discussions with the President of Gabon His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and the two leaders discussed the importance of Africa processing its own raw materials instead of exporting them in their unprocessed form. 

President Museveni informed him about Uganda’s efforts in value addition, especially in agriculture, manufacturing and oil refinery development and also shared experience in wealth creation through commercial agriculture, ICT, services and industrialisation.

President Museveni welcomed Gabon’s interest in working with Uganda in areas such as agriculture, military training and private sector development because Africa has everything required to transform itself if it prioritise production and patriotism.

Meanwhile President Museveni held a meeting with Vice President of Venezuela Her Excellency Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez who paid a courtesy call on him at State House Entebbe and thanked her for honouring  invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony. 

Jiménez Ramírez briefed President Museveni on the current situation in Venezuela and the two discussed the need to strengthen diplomatic and bilateral cooperation between our two countries and agreed to explore collaboration in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the people.
