ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi regional Police spokesman

NEWS- The Police in Kabale District have registered an accident involving an unknown motor vehicle that crashed motorcycle registration numbee UFM 305A killing its occupants on spot at Kitumba along Kabale Katuna road in Kabale District.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate identified the deceased as 25 year old Byaruhanga Merekezedeki a resident of Kibuzigi village in Rubanda district who was a passenger and 24 year old Natwera Osbert, a resident of Karenjere village Rubanda district who is suspected to have been the rider.

It’s reported that Niwamanya Methodius a student of Kabale University, a resident of Kirigime in Kabale Municipality who was also a passenger sustained serious injuries and rushed to Home Care Clinic in Kitumba for medical attention.

Maate told journalists that it is alleged that both the unknown motor vehicle and motorcycle were all coming from Kabale town heading to Katuna side and the unknown was speeding to extent that couldn’t control the speed thus knocking the rider of the said motorcycle who was carrying two passengers on board and preliminary investigations indicate that primarily the cause of accident was careless driving by the driver

Maate said that the scene of accident waa visited by the Kabale District Traffic Officer Mucunguzi Wilson assisted by Police Constablw Kaugu and Police Field Patrol team who drew a sketch plan, retrieved the bodies and took them to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Maate explained that Motorcycle registration number UFM 305A was recovered from the scene of the accident and is parked at Kabale Central Police Station and is yard pending IoV inspection as investigations to hunt down the run away driver continue under reference number TAR 82/2024.
