Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, has survived a road accident in Kagadi District while traveling to Fort Portal for the Tooro Kingdom Annual Youth Conference.

The incident has occurred today evening in Nyakatanga trading center –Kyomukama ward, Kagadi town council, along Kagadi-Kibaale Road. The accident involved a collision with a boda boda.

Tragically, the rider and a passenger lost their lives, and two members of the minister’s team sustained injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Tibyakaroho Josephat and Kadoma, both residents of Nsambya village in Kagadi sub-county who were riding on a motorcycle registration number UEV 143H.The third passenger on boda boda was rushed to the health facility for medical attention.

Minister Balaam who was driving aboard the vehicle registration number UG40 0006 was rushing to Fort Portal for the Tooro Kingdom Annual Youth Conference. The eye witness blames the accident on reckless driving on both sides.

In a statement, Minister Balaam expressed gratitude for divine protection and praised his driver’s quick response, which he said helped prevent further loss. He extends condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. The minister and his team are reported to be in stable condition.
