A devastating accident in Kyenzige Town Council, Kagadi District, has resulted in the tragic death of an 11-month-old child, identified as Anita, the daughter of local teacher Donozio Katusabe.
The incident occurred last evening when a rotting paw paw tree fell on the infant as she crawled after her mother, Jeturidah Katusabe, in their backyard.
Asiimwe Harelimana, the chairman of Kyabasari B Lc1, expressed his sorrow over the incident during an interview with the press.
He highlighted that the tree had been left standing despite its deteriorating condition, emphasizing the need for vigilance regarding the safety of trees near residential areas.
Harelimana has urged residents to avoid planting trees close to their homes to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The community is in mourning as they come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.
