The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a Rwandese national identified only as Zimulinda and a resident of Kihanga village in Rwene Parish in Buhara Sub-county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that The Officer in Charge of Rwene Police Post received information from Kihanga village, that there was a man who was allegedly lynched by mob and he proceeded to the place and found the dead body in flames of fire having been killed by the unknown.
Preliminary investigations identified the victim as Zimulinda a known suspected cattle thief from Kihanga village.
Maate said that the scene of crime was visited by Police Detectives from Kabale Central Police Station who processed and documented records and the body of the deceased was retrieved from the scene and conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate has condemned the act of mob justice and said that efforts to have the suspects who participated in the lyching identified and arrested for prosecution are ongoing.
