NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult, who was lynched by the mob today morning at Katembe cell, Nyarutoojo Parish in Kambuga Sub-county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident and said that it is alleged that the deceased went to the home of Arinaitwe Asuman, dug a hole behind the main house using a spear and a panga and entered his bed room of through that hole, upon entering the bedroom, the deceased pierced Asuman with a spear and injured him.
It is reported that Arinaitwe made an alarm which attracted the neighbours who wole up, as the deceased got an axe inside the house and hit the window where he tried to escape from but people who had convened there, arrested him and started beating him up.
It was at this time that the LC 1 Area chairman called the Police who responded to the scene and rescued the suspect who was already badly beaten and tried to take him to the hospital, but he died on the way.
The scene was visited by Police Officer Joka Walter and other officers from Kambuga Police station who recovered exhibits of a panga, an axe and spear at the scene, and the body was taken to Kambuga General Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
The Police have since appealed to the general public or anyone missing the dear one to visit Kambuga Hospital Mortuary to help in identifying the body so that is taken for a decent burial and warned people to desist from acts of lawlessness.
