NEWS- Angry residents of Ntungamo Municipality on Friday, July 5th 2024 locked up the Council offices and the main gate to the Municipality, protesting the alleged hiding of thieves and corrupt officials.

The residents demanded the resignation or transfer of the Municipal Town clerk and other civil servants.

This follows the disappearance of five garbage skips totaling to UGX 150M and the disappearance of a Compaction Roller used on the Municipal roads raising suspicion to have been stolen since September 2023.

According to the municipal council that sat on March 26th, 2024, a select committee was instituted headed by councilor Abaho Davis to investigate the loss of all municipal garbage skips and come up with a report in one month.

But to their dismay, the town clerk Tumwesigye Isaiah, the custodian of the government properties connived with the accused people to disable the investigations.

The chairperson of the selected committee Abaho Davis revealed that it was unfortunate that instead of police arresting the accused persons, they instead arrested the committee members.

During the community baraza organized by the Ntungamo Municipal Development Forum president Namanya Joshua Kansiime, residents unanimously resolved to close the Municipal main gate and other offices on top of demanding for the resignation of town clerk over abuse of office and corruption.
