News reaching our news desk indicate that Davidson Ayebazibwe has decided not to contest for the NRM Western Youth MPs primary election, but this does not mean the end of the road.

Ayebazibwe who is a first year student at University perusing a Bachelors Degree in Law, joins a long list of NRM aspiring candidates who have decided to go for Independent campaigns later in the year.

In an interview with our reporter Davidson Ayebazibwe said that due to his busy academic schedule he failed to coordinate with some of his sponsors like Alwyn Garuga, Fortunate Benda, King Ceaser Mulenga, Hon Jacqueline Kyatuheire, Minister Dr  Chris Baryomusi, Counsel Akampa Godfrey and Catherine of Goro Cottages.

However, Danson Ayebazibwe has built his ground although his supporters all over western Uganda are worried why he has not picked forms and explained that he will nevertheless contest as an independent Youth Member of Parliament for Western Uganda in 2026 aa he is now focusing on studies.

Davidson Ayebazibwe remains one of the top aspiring Youth MPs for western Uganda because he has build a very big brand as a youth leader, he however blamed the NRM Secretariat for hiking the nomination charges for the Youth well knowing that some of them are still students.

In Kabale District, a number of aspirants have opted to contest as Independents citing similar concerns like Ayebazibwe after 5 aspirants officially withdrew from the ruling National Resistance Movement to contest as independent candidates for various elective positions in Kabale District ahead of the 2026.

This come after several candidates, who had earlier declared their intentions to contest in the NRM primaries, both in person and through social media, reversed their decisions, citing deep reflection and broad consultations.

One of the notable candidate is Alexander Kyokwijuka, a business consultant and resident of Kigarama in Maziba Sub-county who pulled out of the NRM primaries and announced his intention to contest as an independent candidate for the Ndorwa East County Member of Parliament seat.

In Ndorwa West Constituency Gilbert Matsiko Bigweera, has also declared an independent bid, expressing dissatisfaction with internal party procedures and the intricate exercise of lining up behind candidates during the NRM primary elections.

In the Kabale District Woman MP race, 3 aspirants, Grace Ankunda Bekunda Bwesigye, Trust Kyomugisha and Immaculate Kagwa Nyemera, have also abandoned the NRM primaries in favour of independent candidacy and this leaves the incumbent Hon Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira and Enid Origumisiriza in the race for NRM primaries.
