NEWS- The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, has urged Christians to focus on long-term goals rather than short-term goals by championing the gospel of change.
The Bishop made this call during the confirmation service held at Kavu Church of Uganda parish under Kamuronko archdeaconry in Maziba Sub County of Kabale district, where 78 individuals were confirmed into the Anglican faith.
Preaching during the service, Bishop Akanjuna stressed that people nowadays tend to spend their money on buying things that are non profitable, such as using annual savings to purchase clothes and food, mostly during the festive season.
The prelate advised Christians that nowadays, people don’t rush to buy non-profitable things but rather invest their money in profitable ventures.
Bishop Akanjuna also encouraged the confirmed Christians to be steadfast and embrace God’s love, reminding them that walking in a life without God is hard. He urged them to make use of their time profitably in understanding the Kingdom of God.
Speaking in the same service, Mutungi Onesimus, the Chairperson LC3 of Maziba Sub County, commended the role played by the church in their community and its assistance to the government in fulfilling its mandate.
The sub county boss praised the church for encouraging Christians to utilize government programs like the parish development model, which was introduced to eradicate poverty among Ugandans.
Mutungi added that all the church leaders in the sub-county are relevant to the government program, which has eased the government’s work in the sub-county.
