RUKUNGIRI- The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe has implored the Clergy in the Diocese to respond to their calling by carefully doing the work they are delegated to do by the Church in the name of Jesus Christ.

Bishop Asiimwe made the remarks February 27th 2025 while presiding over the installation of Andrew Kananura Kanyoonyi  and his wife Lorna as the Archdeacon of Kakinga Archdeaconry in Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District.

Bishop Asiimwe who was accompanied by his wife Florence and the Archdeacons and other Reverends said that the Clergy world over were delegated by Jesus Christ to do his work of spreading the Gospel so that the world can be redeemed of sin.

The Rt Rev Asiimwe, Bishop described Venerable Andrew Kananura as a focused Priest whom he believes will meet the expectations of the people he will lead and tasked him to be a soul winner in the church ministry in Kakinga Archdeaconry.

Expressing his gratitude, Bishop Asiimwe said that Ven Rev Kananura was as a straight forward man, a good writer, someone loved by many and a man of godly knowledge and wisdom.

While quoting from the New Testament Gospel of Matthew 28:16-20, Bishop Asiimwe said to the Clergy and in particular to Venerable Kananura that he has been delegated with authority from Christ to go and make disciples of all nations in the name of Jesus Christ affirming that the Lord will be with him.

Bishop Onesimus urged the new archdeacon to start Bible study groups, home cells and utilize the opportunity during service gatherings to preach the gospel of repentance and reconciliation and teach the flock he has been entrusted to obey the Lord’s commands because Jesus Christ was a healer, prayer warrior yet a soul winner.

Bishop called upon the believers to turn away from their sins and evil desires and receive Jesus Christ in their lives and over 150 Christians received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.

The newly installed Archdeacon Venerable Kananura said that he will try his level best to live to the Christians expectations by reaching out to all of them without discrimination.

The Guest of honor at the function Elder Emmanuel Turyamuhika Kikoni said that becoming a Clergy is a calling from God and therefore those anointed to do the work of God should do so with Zeal and expressed his gratefulness to God for how far he has been good to him as a person. He pledged to give support to everywhere they are building a church and affirmed his pledge of providing tiles to roof Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano which is under construction.

The event was attended by Rubabo County Member of Parliament Hon Naboth Namanya, Hon Erisa Rutahigwa Omuturagye, Rukungiri District Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama, District Councilors, Canons and Pillars of the Church among many others.
