Quoting Revelation 2:1-7, the prelate stressed the need for honesty in every Christian’s spiritual journey, cautioning the congregants against pretending to be devout Christians yet harboring evil aspects and occulted doctrines.

He however reminded Christians that there is nothing hidden before the omniscient God, and urged all Christians to repent of their evil ways and commit to a transformative relationship with their maker, also comforting the Christians to take heart.

Bishop Magezi, who decried the sharp increase in family breakups in the country, also urged married couples to fulfill their vows if the country is to have stable marriages and resultant community development.

While closing the conference that ended yesterday afternoon, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi and host, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, urged the over 5,000 people that attended the conference to utilize the collective message preached in the conference to renew their spiritual life.

Meanwhile, Christians have been urged to stop quoting the Bible out of context to fulfill their own selfish lusts.

The call was today made by Maama Anna Mbitse, wife to the Bishop of Muhabura Diocese, who specially cited politicians that often use Bible verses to deceive Ugandans during election campaigns.

She was preaching during the just concluded Annual Brethren Conference of the Diocese of Kigezi at the Rugarama Convention site in Northern Division of Kabale Municipality.

Ms Mbitse castigated politicians who misquoted the Bible to the electorate in order to be voted into power for their own selfish interests, warning that their pretense and failure to fulfill their promises to Ugandans will invoke God’s wrath upon them for misusing His Word.

She also challenged Christians and church leaders to serve God without despising one another, but rather embrace humility if they are to have a fulfilling ministry and inherit eternal life.

Organised under the theme “Be not conformed to this world…” derived from Romans 12:2, the conference that started on Thursday has ended today with clerics, politicians and people from all walks of life in attendance.
