RUKUNGIRI- On Thursday 1st, May 2024, Bishop Onesimus and Maama Florence hosted senior five (S.5) students at Bishop’s residence.

Speaking to the girls, Bishop Onesimus said that it was a call for him to do so in order to benefit the S.5 students who missed on his sharing when he visited the school because they had not yet reported.

The Headteacher KGHS Mrs. Allen Kiyasiimire Tugumisirize thanked Bishop Onesimus for his exemplary leadership and love for the youths. She called upon the students to utilize the opportunity very well.

In her words, Maama Florence asked the students to make meaningful decisions always.
Using Esau and Jacob’s story drawn from Genesis 25:19-34 she urged the girls to practice patience. ”Esau was not patient and he traded his birth rite” she said.

Adding on, she said that the decision you make when you are inconvenienced, will either cost you good or bad. You need to endure! Many times the things we desire are attractive, are nice to have satisfaction but these are short lived.
‘Do not sell your birth rite for a short lived satisfaction.’ She also put it that decision determines destiny.

Reading from Ecclesiastes 3:1, Bishop Onesimus called upon the girls to appreciate the value of time and know that there is time for everything.

He further asked the students to distinguish between the things that are Urgent and those that are important.
He challenged them to set goals in order to prioritize between what is urgent and important

He called upon the students to set big goals as he quoted words of Former president of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf ”The sizes of your dreams should always exceed your current capacity to achieve them, if your dreams cannot scare you, then they’re not big enough.”

He also reminded the girls to beware of dream killers such as alcohol, drugs and men who always want to use and dump them after.

The students too expressed gratitude towards Bishop Onesimus and Maama Florence for hosting and serving them a delicious meal.

Looking at the Bishop’s house, one of the students vowed to build a house like one at the Bishop’s residence.

Later on, Bishop Onesimus gave newspapers to the girls in order to cultivate a reading culture in them.
