NEWS– The Bishop of Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka has hailed the government for promoting Vocational education which are imparting lifeskills to the youth, saying that it will go a long way in transforming communities.
The Bishop has therefore asked the benefiting students to pay attention to their calling and be ready to share the acquired skills with the community they live in.
Bishop Zoreka made the remarks on November 16th 2023, while officiating at the Dedication Service of Kihihi Community Polytechnic students in Kihihi Town Council in Kanungu District who are due to sit for their end of year examinations where he asked them to trust in God to become successful.
Bishop Zoreka underscored the need for unity, love and teamwork where everyone has a role to play saying that God has given them a gift of life which should be the basis for trusting in him.
He asked the students who are mostly in their youthful stage to trust in Jesus Christ who will change their lives in order to live a pupirseful life and asked them to avoid acts of immorality that may deviate them from achieving their goals.
The Head of Instructors at Kihihi Community Polytechnic Asiimwe Ronald Jack, said that they have a total of 377 students who will sit for the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations and Directorate of Industrial Training for the year 2023.
Meanwhile, while speaking at the same event, the Chairman of Board of Governors at Kihihi Community Polytechnic Eng Charles Izaara has called on parents to encourage their children to join Vocational Institutions in order to acquire life skills that can help them the challenges of the fast moving changes in the world.
Eng Izaara made the remarks while speaking at the Dedication Service for Kihihi Community Polytechnic Students who are prepared to start their end of year examinations which was presided over by the Bishop of Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka assisted by the Bishop’s Chaplain Rev Stella Arinaitwe and the Clergy from St Andrew’s Church of Uganda.
Eng Izaara said that Kihihi Community Polytechnic has a potential to accomodate more than 500 students and research done has revealed that the skills acquired has helped transformed their lives.
He said that the Board of Governors has created 20 slots for Visually Impaired and People With Disability students to acquire skills but only 8 students are currently studying at the Polytechnic and there is need to encourage more to enrol for the various courses.
The Principal of Kihihi Community Polytechnic Ronald Asiimwe Jack said that they have 377 students who will sit for examinations in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Plumbing, Building Construction, Electrical Installation, Carpentry and Joinery, Agriculture, Home Economics and Kiswahili which are examined by Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board and Directorate of Industrial Training.
The colourful ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Chairman of the PTA and Committee Member Canon Rwakabogo, the Clergy from St Andrew’s Church of Uganda Kihiihi, the Chaplain Rev James Kamuntu, Instructors and the entire students community.
