Bishop Zoreka at Nyakatare, in Kanungu Town Council

KANUNGU- Bishop Dan Zoreka of Diocese of the Diocese of Kinkizi in Kanungu district has elaborated on the birth of Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of redemption for mankind, reminding Christians of the love, hope and peace brought through the Savior.

Rt Rev Zoreka Made the remarks on Christmas day at St Peter’s cathedral Nyakatare Cathedral in Kanungu District town council where he expressed gratitude for the construction progress made in upgrading the Cathedral, including the newly added gallery, seating platform, which allowed more worshippers to join the celebrations today.

During the service, it was announced that the 2025 Diocesan Quota for the Cathedral had already been collected and submitted, paving the way for further development initiatives within the deanery.

Drawing from John 3:16, the Bishop Zoreka called on the congregation to embrace love, kindness, and compassion, as these virtues glorify God.

He also cautioned against excessive drinking, unsafe driving, and immorality, urging Christians to instead focus on the joy and hope that Jesus brings. “For to us, a child is born…a wonderful counselor who solves our problems, the Almighty God who came in human form, the Prince of Peace,” he said.

The Christmas service was attended by several dignitaries, including  Kanungu district chairperson  Eng. Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo who is also the aspiring legislator for Kinkizi East who thanked Christians for their generous contributions toward the Cathedral’s ongoing upgrades.

 He encouraged unity and further support, noting that much work remains to be done.

Kajojo also invited the community to attend the upcoming International Convention of the Banyakigezi (ICOB), set to take place in Kihiihi from December 27–29, 2024. He highlighted the significance of this event, which will be officially opened by the President of Uganda.
