NEWS- The Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances under which one person died in a motorcycle accident.
The accident according to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesman occurred on 3rd May 2025 at around 1550hrs at Nyakatembe B Cell, Garuka Parish, Bwambara Sub county in Rukungiri district.
The Police mouthpiece told the press that the accident involved two motorcycles UFZ 296J and UEX 428L all Bajaj Boxers red in color.
Maate identifies the deceased person as Nuwamanya Amos 36, a boda boda rider of motorcycle registration number UEX 248L, resident of Kamabare village, Karangara Parish, Bitereko Sub County in Mitooma district.
The victim is Turyasingura Emmanuel 29, a boda boda rider of motorcycle registration number UFZ 296J, resident of Garuka parish, Bwambala sub county in Rukungiri district.
It’s alleged that the deceased- Nuwamanya Amos while ridding the above mentioned motorcycle was from the direction of Kikarara cell heading to the direction of Bwambara town, slopping downhill before colliding head on with the rider of motorcycle UFZ 296J who was climbing uphill (Natured road)- opposite the direction of the deceased.
Both riders were riding in the middle of the road and after the accident, the rider of motorcycle UEX 248L- Nuwamanya Amos died on spot while Turyasingura Emmanuel (Victim) was rushed to Nyakibale Hospital for medical attention.
Police visited the scene led by DTO Abel Mbowa Mukama, examined and documented thoroughly, Postmortem was conducted and relevant statements recorded.
Both motorcycles towed and parked at the police yard pending IOV inspection as inquiries into the matter are underway.
