BUSHENYI – All Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools have across the country on Monday 5th February 2024 officially opened for first term of the academic year 2024.
The first term opens just 2 weeks after Primary Leaving Examinations were released awaiting Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results set to be released soon.
As www.informer.co.ug we moved around various schools where we found studies had already commenced as other learners were still reporting from home.
At Basajjabalaba Secondary School Ishaka, studies for s.2, 3, 4 and 6 had already resumed as they wait for S.1 and S.5, according to Headboy Aryamanya Abdukarim.
Nakalanzi Zamura, the School Headteacher who welcomed learners back to school challenged parents to always bring their children to school in time especially girl learners to avoid most of the challenges they meet on the way to schools.
Furthermore, she tasked parents to deposit school fees to banks or bringing it to school themselves so as to avoid it being diverted to other businesses. She said some students get problems and lose school fees on the way while others may be persuaded to bet it.
At Ryamabengwa Primary School in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality, studies had already commenced and the head teacher Nkahikayo Silver thanked parents for caring for their children and providing them with scholastic materials.
At Jesus Cares day and Boarding Primary School Kizinda, pupils were already in class and the director madan Anjuna Jackline confirmed to us that learners started reporting to school on Saturday and they are now on serious business.
Anjuna tasked mothers to take girl child as first priority and make sure they take to schools themselves on top of providing them with hygienic materials such as sanitary pads and soap to ensure a steady learning process.
Our reporter also visited St Kagwa Primary/High Schools, Bunyarigi Primary School in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality and Prime Junior School in Igara West where studies were already in progress.
