KAMPALA- The Kampala District Land Board Chairperson David Balondemu has been released on bail by the Buganda Road Magistrates Court on charges of forgery.
He has been ordered to pay cash bail of 5 million shillings before he gets out of Court cells and each of his three sureties including his wife, sister and brother in-law to execute a non-cash bond of 20 million shillings as security to ensure his return in Court whenever required.
The trial magistrate Ronald Kayizzi also orders Balondemu to deposit his passport before Court and barred him from travelling out of the country without notifying Court.
He has been under state custody at Luzira Prison since October 15th 2024.
He is jointly charged with a medical Doctor attached to Mulago Hospital Hassan Segujja who is also wanted before Court to answer to charges of forging a prescription medical form.
Prosecution contends that Dr. Segujja with others still at large in the year 2023 at Kampala Hospital knowingly and fraudulently made a false document indicating that Kampala District Land Board chairman David Balondemu is a patient at Kampala hospital whereas not.
The said forged prescription form and CT scan were allegedly forged between 12th June and 7th / November 2023.
The 2 documents were uttered before Buganda Road Court as grounds for Balondemu to get bail on his dismissed offenses of obtaining over US Dollars 50, 000 from KG Unlimited LLC by falsely pretending that they would award them a contract for Agricultural supplies to Ministry of Agriculture.
Case has been set for hearing on November 26th 2024 and warrant of arrest against Dr. Segujja, further extended on the same date.
