NEWS- Police detectives from the Criminal investigations Directorate have driven the detained two Members of Parliament to their homes for thorough searches as investigations take on in their alleged corruption scandals.

 Police last evening detained the two MPs and three yet to be identified lawyers to assist with investigations into alleged embezzlement of parts of Ugx164 billions disbursed by the government to compensate cooperative socialites.

The two have been driven by detectives by a squad of armed and detectives in convoys to their respective homes for the search as part of the investigations.  At Mawanda’s home in Kololo some of the concealed materials were seen being picked by the detectives that will aid the ongoing investigations amid heavy security.

According to Police documents, the detectives are investigating corruption, theft and conspiracy to defraud Buyaka Growers Cooperative Society and Bumwambu Growers Cooperative Society in respect to the government payout to them in the 2011/12 and 2022/23 financial years as compensation for losses the famer’s groups suffered in wars that plagued the country from the 1970s.

Sources in security have revealed that after investigations the detained MPs will appear before the Anti-Corruption court on Wednesday for trial, it is also suspected that more officials will be invited to record statements.
