NEWS- Drama ensued Mitooma district council on Friday as police dragged the district Council deputy speaker Mucunguzi Greenford Kapota out of the session on orders of the district speaker Moses Tumwekwatse.
The incident happened in the district council session that was held at Mitooma Town council hall where the deputy speaker Mucunguzi Greenford Kapota was reporting back to the council following a two council sitting suspension, from December 2023 for undressing his Deputy Speaker’s gown and throwing it before the Councillor.
Unfortunately on coming back today, he couldn’t find the gown and decided to attend the session without it.
It’s from this point that the Speaker Tumwekwatse ordered him to abide by the council rules and put on the gown or else he leaves the deputy speaker’s seat and join the rest of the Councillors in the audience, the order Kapoota refused to adhere to.
The sergeant at arms was therefore ordered to forcefully drag him out the meeting to the Police headquarters where he was detained until the meeting was done.
According to Tumwekwatse, Kapoota will only be allowed again into the Deputy Speaker’s seat until he comes don in the office’s respective attire since they are not yet aware of its whereabouts.

Benon Karyeijaaka Boneza, the Mitooma district boss Kapoota’s behaviour won’t be tolerated in the district’s leadership and advised him to fulfill the directions given to him by his boss so that sanity returns in the district council.

However, as he was being dragged out of the council sitting, Kapoota was heard saying that this was a planned move to hide his gown with an intent to keep him out of the meeting.
