NEWS– Uganda’s 11th Parliamentary Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa, who is also the Ruhinda North County legislator in Mitooma has survived death after a helicopter in which he was traveling in was involved in a nasty crash.
Sources intimated to this reporter that the crash happened on Saturday evening, August 3rd 2024.
Although the details surrounding the crash remain scanty, our reporter understands that the Deputy Speaker Tayebwa and his crew are okay, hence no cause for alarm.
“Dear all, my colleagues and I are all okay. No one is hurt,” Tayebwa said in a social media post via X on Sunday morning.
The crash according to anonymous sources reveal that it occurred on his way back to Kampala from Bushenyi, where he had attended a traditional give away ceremony.
It has also been established that the deputy speaker who earlier on Saturday attended a state function in Nebbi, West Nile, had travelled to Bushenyi by chopper to grace the Kuhingira of Ms Edinah Ainomugisha and Mr Albert Bagabe in the southwestern Uganda, Bushenyi district.
Edinah is the daughter to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Managing Director, Dr Eng. Silver Mugisha, and Hon. Annet Katusiime Mugisha, the Bushenyi district Woman MP.
