NEWS- The Rukungiri Municipality legislator Hon Dr Elisa Rutahigwa has urged people of Rukungiri Municipality to disregard the social media posts circulating in different platforms claiming that he won’t contest come 2026.

Hon. Rutahigwa explained that some of his contenders target youths whom they pay to tarnish his name on different social media platforms hence calling upon people to treat such information as fake and malicious.

“There are some social media bloggers who open fake accounts in my name and use them to spread fake information saying that I won’t stand in 2026, which is not true. I am ready to contest again and more energized than before“ Hon Rutahigwa.

Rutahigwa stressed that this tendency of blackmailing him fueled by his opponents should stop and they resort to other appropriate means of seeking people’s mandate basing on what they want to do for them.

He appealed to youths to use their time appropriately and engage in government programs as well as using social media for positive impact rather than negatively abusing people, a situation that creates negativity in societies.

The legislator further asked people to welcome all those intending to contest with him, weigh and analyze them without forgetting to look at their history.

Rutahigwa noted that he has at least pushed for the improvement of the health, Education and transport sector in Rukungiri municipality.

“Although there is a delay in rural electricity connection, we have already completed the whole process as we wait for the government funding to have the areas connected to the national grid” he added.
