NEWS- The going on and off electricity tendency in Rukiga district and country over, the situation has so far led to the death of a 40 year old male electrician as he tried to repair Electricity with naked hands.
The deceased was identified as Mbalire Godfrey an electrician hailing from Bukwiri cell B, Bukwiri Parish, Butembe Sub County in Kyankwanzi District who was pronounced dead after he was rushed to a healthy facility for treatment.
The Matter was reported to Police by Twinomugisha Gerald 24, a son to Mansa James and a resident of Luhonwa cell, Butare ward, Muhanga Town council Rukiga District.
It is alleged that the deceased went to repair electricity at Mansa James’ place on Friday 29th March 2024 when power went off prompting the deceased to remove the gloves and started using naked hands to do some mechanical work on one of the electric wires.
After sometime power abruptly came back and the deceased didn’t know, and continued using naked hands. It was during the process that he was seriously electrocuted and his coworker alerted the family members who were around and rushed him to Rotom health center for further management but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead after some few minutes.
Police led by the Rukiga DPC,OCID, OC Muhanga and the Homicide Team Visited the scene, drew Sketch plan, recorded statements from some relevant eye witnesses, issued the Pf 48 form, did the autopsy done before they handed over the body to the relatives for a decent burial.
The matter was thereafter registered at Rukiga Central Police station under file number RKG/DEF 02/2024 as more inquiries into the matter continue.
