NEWS- The National Coordinator of Emyooga programme, Ms Ritah Namuwenge, has urged the Ugandans to take advantage of government programs such as Emyooga, and the Parish Development Model (PDM) to increase their household incomes and lift themselves out of poverty.
“As much as there are PDM and Emyooga programs, several people are left out, and this program comes in to bridge that gap.” stated Namuwenge.
She made the remarks while chairing the Stakeholder’s meeting at Mbale City Council Hall to assess the implementation status of PDM and Emyooga programs in the Bugisu Sub-region with the aim to enhance household income and drive socio-economic transformation.
The meeting was attended by a delegation from the ministry of finance, other participants included, Regional and District security officers, Chief Administrative officers (CAOs), NRM chairpersons, PDM focal persons, and district commercial officers, among others.
Ms Namuwenge who is also the PDM Consultant In-Charge of Eastern Uganda, assured people of Bugisu region that President Museveni is committed to improve people’s lives through various development programs.
She encouraged them not to give up on exploring every possible source of income.
Rahim Kisuyi, an economist from the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development (MOFPED), said that people of Bugisu are very lucky to have Ms Namuwenge as Emyooga coordinator.
“Please work closely with her. She has strong connections with the Ministry of Finance. All the issues with PDM and Emyooga will be resolved, and you will receive your money, ” he said.
However, Ms Namuwenge, stated that the program’s goal is to raise household incomes and transform the 39 percent persons in communities from hand to mouth to a productive money economy to facilitate socio-economic transformation.
