OP-ED- Renowned international businessman and philanthropist, Emmanuel Akandwanaho Ruhakana, has been awarded the prestigious Uganda Development Champions Award. This recognition, bestowed by Public Opinions, acknowledges his invaluable contributions to achieving Uganda Vision 2040 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As a close associate of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), Emmanuel has demonstrated unwavering dedication to promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability in Uganda’s governance. His commitment to mentoring and supporting development initiatives targeting youth, women, and vulnerable populations has also been recognized.
Emmanuel’s achievements add him to the list of distinguished Ugandans recognized by Public Opinions, including President Museveni, who was the first to receive the prestigious Uganda Development Champions Award in 2019 and also in 2023, in appreciation of his contribution towards ensuring total peace and stability.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has seen significant growth, reinforcing investor confidence in Uganda’s economic trajectory. The Ugandan Shilling remains one of the most stable currencies in Africa, outperforming several larger economies in currency stability over the past decade.
Inflation has declined significantly, standing at 3.6% as of January 2025. This award is a testament to Emmanuel’s tireless efforts to promote Uganda’s development and prosperity.
