KABALE- The Police in Kabale District on April 18th 2025 evening, registered a serious road accident where a number of people were injured at Nyakijumba and involved motor vehicle registration number UEA 886M after it knocked a pedestrian.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the accident and named the injured victims as 39 year old Florence Musimenta resident of Kanyakiriro Nyabikoni central division Kabale Municipality, who was the pedestrian.
Others that were in the vehicle included Muhumuza Apollo and his wife Tumuhaise, their children Ahumuza Mercy, Amutuhire Johnathan, Ayebare Shina all members of the same family.
It is alleged that, while motor vehicle registration number UEA 886M was coming from Nyakijumba heading towards Kabale Town along Kabale – Mbarara road.
Maate explained that the driver was is suspected to have been drunk lost control and left his side and knocked the pedestrian who was walking on her side, then the vehicle fell in the trench hence injuring the occupants.
Maate said that the scene was visited and documented by Kabale District Traffic Officer Mucunguzi Wilson and team and all the victims were taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment and the vehicle is parked at Kabale Central Police Station pending inspection as investigations continue.
