Late Patrick Tibamwenda was the father to Toterebuka Boniface Bamwenda the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Electoral Commission chairperson.

Oboi said political leaders only compete for elective positions but at the end of the electoral process, we all remain brothers, thus emphasizing need for exercising peaceful politics.

He also condemned divisionism which led to the creation of two factions within FDC one with headquarters at Katonga and another at Najanankumbi maintaining that the FDC party he leads is still one, calling for unity among the party members.

The FDC split last year with one side accusing Amuriat and Mafabi of pocketing money from the ruling NRM, allegations that they deny.

Oboi said despite the recent splits in the FDC top leadership, they still stand as one and urged all members to avoid leaders seeking to disintegrate the party for selfish gains.

Oboi further urged the NRM government to stabilize maize prices which are very low to help farmers benefit from their agricultural produce.

A kilogram of maize buys at a maximum price of five hundred shillings (Ugx500) in Kagadi district which is a food busket for Bunyoro Sub-region and Western Uganda at large.

Most farmers depend on maize sales for both food and income and because of sharp declines in prices, many people have been forced to get loans from money lending institutions to pay fees for their children.

However, the FDC President Patrick Oboi Amuriat condemned government for failing to help Ugandans get out of poverty, through stabilizing maize prices and for not supporting farmers to add value to their grains.

He proposed that government should set up maize processing industries to help farmers transcend from selling grains to processed and packed flour and according to him, this would help farmers from earning a lot from their produce.

Oboi also eulogized late Patrick Tibamwenda as a peaceful and patriotic Ugandan who nurtured corrupt free citizens including his son and the FDC Electoral Commission chairperson Toterebuka Boniface Tibamwenda whom Amulait praised for being a transparent and smart officer at the helm of the party’s electoral body.

Late Patrick Tibamwenda died at 94 years and had served in the Hoima,Kibaale local governments, and a Saza Chief for Buyaga County in the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
