NEWS– The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has revealed that majority of the people who didn’t go through the regular recruitment exercise in Kasese district presented forged academic documents.
While the rest had health related challenges including hernia, rings warms and big scars around their bodies and inability to run.
The UPDF is recruiting 9,627 youth aged between 18 and 22 to serve into the forces across the country.
In Kasese district, the physical recruitment of the people who were shortlisted started yesterday and has ended this evening at the Rwenzori Square in Kasese town.
Maj. Bilal Katamba, the UPDF Public Information Officer for the Mountain Division and the Operation Shujja says that much as the exercise has been completed peacefully, most youth who had been shortlisted for interviews presented forged UCE documents and others didn’t go through the medical examinations.
This prompted them to leave them out of the exercise and considered those that had authentic documents both and girls and boys. For Kasese, out 261candiadtes, only 140 have been taken to Kaweweta Army Training School for military training.
The UPDF officer applauded the district political leaders, security operatives led by the RDC for being instrumental during the exercise.
Mr. Ham Natuhwera, the Kasese District Vice Chairperson, told the press that they were disappointed to see that some youth have not studied up to 0’level.
He encouraged the parents to guide their children on the need to acquire formal education so that they can be able to tap employable opportunities that come their way.
