The Commissioner General of Prisons Dr Canon Johnson Byabasheija has made significant and series of appointments, transfers and leave of Senior Prisons Officers aiming at enhancing professionalism in the Uganda Prisons Service.
According to a Press Release dated May 24th 2025 and signed by the Deputy Director of Communications and Prisons Services Spokesperson Frank Mayanja Baine, the new appointments take immediate effect and all Regional and District Prisons Officers have bed asked to over see the handover of offices.
According to the list seen by our reporter about 100 Prisons Officers will be affected in the appointments, transfers while others will be sent on accumulated leave and these include those in the Prisons Headquarters and Officer in Charge of Upcountry Prisons.
Senior Commissioner of Prisons Frank Baine said that 10 Officers will be proceeding for leave while 4 Regional Prisons Officers have been appointed.
