According to Asiimwe, physical violence takes lead followed by sex violence especially in sub-counties of Bwesumbu, Nyamwamba Division, Maliba and Munkunyu.

She also revealed that a total of 7,139 cases of teenage pregnancies were registered during the COVID-19 period, adding that most of the victims are currently staying with their parents.

To her surprise, the relatives of the young girls were the core perpetrators of Gender Based Violence cases, appealing to the leadership of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu to disseminate the recently enacted policy that is aimed at fighting against early marriages from the Cultural institution.

Asiimwe subsequently discouraged the parents from the practice of giving their children to the family relatives, arguing that they sometimes lure them into forced sex.

Hon. Juliet Best Bakoko, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Minister for Gender, Rehabilitation and Disability Affairs, who was the Chief Guest, reported that the Cultural institution in partnership with clan leaders, political leaders and other stakeholders had embarked on a community awareness campaign aimed at having an additional voice in the fight against alarming cases of Gender Based Violence from families.
