The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Hon. Jacqueline Amongin as the Women’s Council Representative for the Teso sub-region.
In a letter signed by PLU Secretary General David Kabanda, Amongin was among seven individuals appointed on December 17th to serve in various leadership roles within the Teso Sub-region.
The appointees are:
- Peter Ogwang: Coordinator
- Hon. Aeku Patrick: Assistant Coordinator

- Hon. Jacqueline Amongin: Women’s Council Representative
- Mr. Okwi Micheal Opepo: Elderly Council Representative

This team is tasked with combating corruption and wastage of public resources, while actively engaging and mobilizing citizens in the Teso Sub-region towards socio-economic transformation and development.
Following her appointment, Hon. Jacqueline Amongin expressed her gratitude on social media, stating: “I am deeply honored and grateful to our Chairman, @Plugandaa Gen. @mkainerugaba, for the trust and confidence you have placed in me by appointing me as the women’s council representative for Teso. Truly humbled to have your support and excited to take on this responsibility.”
The Teso Sub-Region, encompassing key districts such as Kumi, Soroti, and Katakwi, has historically faced challenges in infrastructure development, education, and economic growth. The newly appointed PLU leaders are tasked with engaging local stakeholders, mobilizing citizens, and promoting initiatives that align with Uganda’s Vision 2040.
This announcement is part of the PLU’s broader strategy to establish a strong presence across Uganda. Similar leadership appointments have been made in other regions to ensure nationwide representation and impact.
The PLU is currently establishing formal structures, including a Central Committee and leadership at sub-regional and district levels. While the group’s participation in the 2026 general elections remains to be seen, it is actively positioning itself as a key player in fostering patriotism, good governance, and accountability. The organization aims to work closely with communities to address issues such as poverty, corruption, and the mismanagement of public resources.
