NEWS- January was a good month for Insurers in the States after Property and casualty insurer, Great American Insurance Group, announced the appointment of Gene J. Simpson as President of its California-based workers’ compensation subsidiary, Republic Indemnity.
Information at hand shows that Simpson brings with more than 26 years of insurance experience and is to start his new role with immediate effect.
He joins the company from a workers’ compensation insurance carrier in California, where he served as Vice President, Underwriting and Distribution.
Prior to this leadership role, Simpson was the Vice President, Workers’ Compensation Product Management at the parent company of a Seattle-based workers’ compensation insurer.
“Gene comes to us with a strong underwriting background and a vast network of solid agency relationships that will undoubtedly benefit Republic,” said Jason Cohen, Senior Vice President of Great American’s Property & Casualty Group. “We welcome his expertise and experience, and look forward to continuing to grow Republic, which has a strong history of serving the workers’ comp market.”
Simpson’s appointment has been the Group’s most recent hire and follows the appointment of Nicholas T. Moraites as Divisional Assistant Vice President of Claims, who joined the company from Travelers.
