BUNYORO- The Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja yesterday handed over 18 tractors to Bunyoro Sub Region on behalf of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at Kakumiro district headquarters.
Each district in Bunyoro has been allocated 2 tractors to be used communally and the tractors were handed over to carefully selected beneficiaries.
According to the Prime Minister Nabbanja, the initiative to give the tractors to farmers in Bunyoro Sub Region is a testament to the commitment of the NRM gov’t to modernize agriculture to increase production and productivity.
“Mechanization of Agriculture reduces the burden of manual labour and enables farmers to cultivate more land with efficiency and productivity”. Nabbanja Said.
Prime Minister Nabbanja said the tractors are part of a larger strategy to support rural areas that play an integral role in the agriculture sector by equipping farmers with tools for success and urged leaders and beneficiaries to ensure proper usage and maintenance.
The event to hand over the tractors which took place at Kakumiro District Headquarters was also attended by the Minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development Hon Matia Kasaija,a cross section of Members of Parliament, Bunyoro District LC 5 Chairpersons and other stakeholders.
