KAMPALA- The minister of energy and mineral development Ruth Nakabirwa has assured members of parliament that they are working hard to reduce on the tariffs of the electricity.

Minister Nankabirwa revealed this after Arua city woman Members of Parliament Oseru Mourine tasked her to explain the exact amount of money her people are going to be paying for the electricity since Arua has been connected to the national grid.

Oseru noted that government and Uganda Electricity Regulatory Authority have to be fair to all people in different parts of the country when it comes to electricity tariffs.

In her response, Minister Nakabirwa noted that electricity is going to be affordable to all people and regions that are connected to the national grid.

The Minister also noted that for the past four years, they have been reducing the tariffs of the electricity and that even in January next year, the country is likely to experience new and reduction in electricity tariffs.
