NTUNGAMO- Rubaare police station in Ntungamo district is investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a minor in an accident.
Police identified the deceased male juvenile as Forgod Mwegesa aged 5 years, a pedestrian a son of Benon Mbamanya, a resident of Katabona cell Rwentobo Rwahi Town council.
The accident that involved government vehicle registration number UG 2900071 with pedestrian Forgod Mwegesa occurred on Tuesday 4th March 2025 at Omunsheyi along Ntungamo-Kabale road.
According to police, the deceased was with his fellows from school, then the rest crossed from left to the right while facing Rwentobo direction leaving him behind.
In the efforts to follow them, he collided with a government speeding vehicle from ministry of minerals driven by Paul Ndawula, killing the minor on spot.
The vehicle was coming from Kabale heading to Ntungamo.
The scene was visited by AIP Bernard Manzi and team, the body was taken for postmortem and the vehicle was towed to Rubaare police station pending IOV.
