KIGEZI- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will today arrive in Kigezi Sub Region where he is expected to commission several capital infrastructural projects worth billions of Uganda Shillings which are aimed at transformation the areas.
While addressing the Media fraternity yesterday, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi revealed that the President will officially commission the 132/33KV power Sub-station at Karukara in Rubanda District and visit a successful Parish Development Model famer in Bubare Town Council.
According to the Minister, the President will on thursday, visit a farmer in Nyamirama Town Council , launch the NRM Volunteers Nyekundire NRM Volunteers Group at Kanungu District Headquarters Playground and then meet over 900 selected political and opinion leaders from the 6 districts of the Kigezi Sub-region in Rukungiri Main Stadium.
The President will also commission the 2.4 kilometer Rushoroza Road, which connects the Kabale Catholic Diocesan Headquarters to the Katuna-Kabale-Mbarara Highway and with two other roads which include the 0.76-kilometer Bwankosa Road and the 0.34-kilometer Bushekwire Road all in Kabale Municipality.
According to Minister Chris Baryomunsi, the roads were constructed under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) project by Multiplex Construction Company at a cost of Ugx 21.7 billion.
Despite the roads being ready for commissioning, some civil works remain incomplete and authorities have on several occasions warned the contractor to perform his contractual obligation as agreed in their agreement with the government.
President Museveni will then proceed to commission the Kigezi Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub for skilling the Youth in Kamuganguzi Sub-county along Katuna Road on Friday February 14th 2025 and then address a mega public rally at Rushebeya Playground in Rwamucuucu Sub-county in Rukiga District as he concludes his tour.
The President is also expected to meet selected journalists hailing Kigezi at Irenga Country Home where he will make an evaluation of his assessment of the tour of Parish Development Model in Kigezi Sub Region.
