The Police in Kabale District have registered a hit and run fatal road ccident, where one Alfred Turyatunga a male adult died on spot.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident which took place yesterday evening at Kabaraga village along Kabale – Mbarara road in Kabale district.
Maate explained that the deceased a resident of Karuma village Kyanamira Sub-county in Kabale district and is alleged to have been knocked by yet to be established vehicle.
This folled a scuffle that developed over a tricycle which was parked along the road loaded with iron sheets and they suspected it stolen and tried to intervene and in the process, the deceased fell in an oncoming vehicle from Mbarara side and died on spot but the motor vehicle did not stop and the rider of the tricycle also fled the scene.
Maate said that the scene was visited, processed and documented, by the Traffic Police from Kabale Central Police Station and the body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination while the tricycle is parked at Kabale CPS as investigations continue.
