NEWS- The Police in Bushenyi District have in detention a former Parliamentary aspirant for allegedly defiling his 15 year old house girl, impregnating her and later procured the minor’s abortion.
According to Police sources, the suspect Akanduhuura Kenneth allegedly defiled the minor in Bushenyi district and aided an abortion and thereafter abandoned her to rot.
The news of Akanduhuura’s arrest was put to the media by Dr. Balaam Barugahara, the State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs who made it clear that the suspect was arrested early this week upon the intervention of Tom Magambo, the Uganda Police Force Assistant IGP.
A case of defilement and aiding abortion, SD Reference 23/12/04/2024 was opened at Bushenyi police station on the 12th April, 2024.
According to Police records, the victim identified as Atuhaire Juliet developed complications after the abortion to the extent that she is using over four pampers a day and yet the defiler refused to facilitate medical treatment and even started threatening the guardians of the victim.
Atuhaire Juliet told the media that the suspect forced her door open and forcefully had sex with her while clasping her mouth.
The case of aggravated defilement and abortion has been preferred against the suspect at Bushenyi Central Police station under reference number CRB 302/2024
BRIEF CASE HISTORY
Atuhaire Juliet female juvenile aged 16 years is a Munyankole resident of Kyeitembe Cell, East ward, Central Division Bushenyi- Ishaka Municipality in Bushenyi District.
One so far known by only one name, Kenneth Akanduhura male adult resident of Kyeitembe Cell, Central Division, Bushenyi- Ishaka Municipality, in Bushenyi District.
It’s alleged that in November 2023 while the victim was working as a maid at the residence of Kenneth (Suspect), she was forced into sexual intercourse and later threatened not to tell anybody, this happened when the wife of the suspect had been admitted in hospital for some treatment.
After some time, the victim was taken for examination by the aunt, and it was established that she was pregnant. The suspect was informed and instead requested the victim to go back to his home so that they can confirm the pregnancy through another test. When the victim went back they instead took her to a medical center and did an Abortion in the month of February 2024.
POLICE ACTION
Some witnesses’ statements recorded, Victim examined on PF3A at Bushenyi police H/C II, Victim referred by the medical officer to Bushenyi Health Center IV for further examination.
OBSERVATIONS
The victim is in serious pain as she has difficulty in walking and has a viginal discharge most likely caused by Abortion and not receiving proper treatment. The incident happened in November 2023 but had not been reported.
PENDING INQUIRIES
Re-examining the victim upon the referral made as well as revisiting the crime scene, arresting the suspect who is said to be at Kampala currently and establishing his full Particulars, Establishing the medical center where the abortion was done from and by who.
Retrieving medical documents upon which the victim was receiving treatment since the first examination that established her pregnancy.
Retrieving mobile money statements to ascertain the allegation that the suspect used to send money to the victim for treatment as Inquiries are still at hand, we shall keep you updated on any new developments.
