NEWS- Hundreds of persons received the State Minister for Education and sports Hon. Peter Ogwang escorted him to update his name in the NRM register in his village of Aale in Aliakamer parish.
The Minister who met 6 villages later moved to Katakwi High school where he launched the distribution of over 10,000 government books to all the government and private secondary schools in Ngariam County.
The head teacher for Katakwi high school Joseph Opule said the school has so far registered over 600 students and studies are steadily moving.
James Engole, the chairperson of head teachers in Katakwi District thanked the Minister for his excellent lobbying ability, noting that Ngariam County in the whole country is the only one which has a seed school in each sub-county.
Irene Among, the secretary for Education and community based in Katakwi District, asked the public to support leaders who value the importance of their electorate.
The Minister noted the books to be of Biology, Agriculture, CRE, Ateso, Fine-Art, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, History, Kiswahili, Chinese and French are meant to boost learners’ ability to understand concepts.
Ogwang said that he will distribute to counties of Toroma and Usuk too and he is set to start talking to the public on good governance in all those counties.
In another development, the communities of Magoro sub-county and town council are in their final stages of fronting a strong candidate who will tussle out with the incumbent Joseph Andrew Koluo ahead of the 2026 general elections.
This was revealed on Saturday in Oriau Village, Omasia Parish where the public had turned up to update their Names in the NRM yellow book. Led by Hon. Aruo and Okello, they praised the Magoro Sub County Chairperson stressing that meetings are ongoing to harmonize another looming number of candidates who always front themselves for candidature.
The chairperson of LC3’s in Katakwi District, Hon. Jorem Obukui said Magoro is blessed with active leaders but most times front many candidates, an issue that makes other leaders defeat them.
He noted that they seem to be bewitched hence failing in most political competitions, and advised them to be united if at all they need the Toroma county seat.
Meanwhile, Walter Elakas Okiring, a staff at the office of a Ugandan speaker of Parliament Hon Annet Anita Among, urged people with health complications to shun politics since the battle will be for hard people only.
