NEWS- Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries, Frank Tumwebaze, has instructed all District Security Committees, led by Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), to impound unused tractors distributed to farmer groups during past agricultural projects.
This directive follows reports of abandoned agricultural facilities, including tractors and abattoirs, in several districts.
Speaking to local government leaders from 69 districts selected to implement the Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project, Tumwebaze emphasized the need to ensure resources are utilized effectively.
He urged district leaders, including Chief Accounting Officers and District development Officers, to prioritize serious farmer groups committed to utilizing the inputs provided under the World Bank-funded climate-smart project.
Tumwebaze highlighted that accountability and proper resource use are critical to achieving the project’s goals.
