KABALE- Rev. Amosi Anyogyere, the parish priest of Nyamiyaga Parish under Bubare Archdeaconry in Bubare Town Council, Rubanda East constituency, expressed concern about the high rate of alcohol consumption in the Kigezi sub-region.
He revealed this at Nyamiyaga parish, where Reuben Rutegwa, a journalist with 90.6 PEAK FM Kabale, led his family, including his wife, Mrs. Hildah Oratungye, and their daughter, Amumpeire Barbra Laura, in being baptized into the Anglican faith.
The Peak FM journalist was accompanied by several journalists from Kabale town, including Michael (Hope FM), Nathan Bahangwa (Revival Radio), Emmanuel (K.Town Radio), Gideon, Isaiah (Peak FM), Libino (CEO) Eye Television, and Hope Radio station, as well as Ninsiima Evelyn, the Kikafunda GEP President.
Preaching during the service, Rev. Amosi Anyogyere expressed concern about how the public is being overtaken by earthly pleasures, shunning Jesus Christ as their savior.
He stated that one of the major challenges the public faces is excessive alcohol consumption. Rev. Anyogyere listed the new brands of alcohol on the market, which people have wasted their money on, and warned the public against prioritizing alcohol over family, school fees, and rent.
Rev. Amosi Anyogyere also expressed concern about people’s thirst for waragi (alcohol) instead of the word of God. He noted that this has led to domestic violence in families, with some women no longer sleeping in their homes. Rev. Anyogyere lamented how waragi is destroying the public and causing men to neglect their responsibilities.
Ninsiima Evelyn Kikafunda, President of Green Environment Promotion, praised Reuben Rutegwa for exercising professionalism in his work.
He challenged fellow journalists to emulate this professionalism, saying they are the ears and eyes of the public.
Peak FM Manager Brave Wikilife commended Reuben Rutegwa for his passion and punctuality.
