KAMPALA- The Japanese government has pledged to continue supporting Uganda in the management of refugees coming into the country.

The Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister Eri Africa made this pledge last evening during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah at her office in Kampala.

Currently, Uganda hosts over 1.8 million refugees from DRC and South Sudan.

The two leaders also discussed matters of mutual interest of the two sister countries.

The Premier thanked the Japanese government for the continued support to Uganda.

The Japanese minister who was accompanied by the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda Takuya Sasayama and other Japanese officials hailed Uganda for her efforts in fostering peace in Africa.

The Japanese government recently increased its support to Uganda to a tune of 6.8 million USDs and number of development projects have been done including the construction of Jinja Bridge, Kampala Clock tower flyover and a new Karuma bridge being constructed among others.
