KAMPALA-  One of the things that is still hitting us hard as a nation is unemployment since Uganda is one of the  countries with the highest population with  the youth taking over three quarters of the national population figures.

With this in place, more initiatives are needed  in ;  Skilling,  job forum platforms, increased scaling of manufacturing plants and many more.

The Job fair organized by Alliance Francaise de Kampala ( AFK), French Embassy in Uganda, French Chamber of commerce Uganda together with other partners organized the fourth edition of their Annual Job Fair at  the French International school over the weekend.

This was a great meeting space between employers and employees  coming up to see and be able to fill the gaps and also share information that employers need as they look for employees to join their work force.

Speaking at the event  Loic Boivin , the director, AFK said that the job fair creates  bridges for   young professionals and employers.

”  Thought out  the day , the participants  will be able  to connect with companies and they will have workshops for Proper Curriculum  Vitae writing,  Internship placements,  training and mentorship” Loic Added .

He also stressed that knowing French is an asset that should be taken advantage of.

 Mr.Bertrand Hertzog, president  French Chamber of Commerce Uganda stressed that it is very important for them to connect with Ugandans with these activities that are part of their DNA.

He also noted that they had over 800 people that came through last year and this year it will be better.

Her Excellency,  Doreen Ruth Amule , the Ugandan Ambassador to France said that she was happy to share her  reflections of Humanity which reminds us  that before all our races we are first human beings and we must treat each other with dignity and worthiness.

” In  today’s world of diversity inclusion is essential and it is our responsibility to  create communities sources of strength.

Our two nations share common  aspirations of peace , culture, business, trade and many others and such 

activities  strengthen the partnership between France and Uganda”. Amule asserted.

The French Ambassador to Uganda, Her Excellency Virginie Leroy said that it helps  students to build confidence and also  becoming better since Uganda has very many opportunities.

 “We have over  25  companies here and I thank them for working with us   and   I encourage all of you to check them out so that you can benefit from all of them.

I  also welcome you to this edition which is  growing every year and it is  a key event part of the Francophonie which is running under the theme French opens doors and if you’re aware Uganda is strategically located and a gate way to many other countries that Speak French” Virginie Added.

The participants had various sessions where they were guided on how to make competitive CVs, connect with employers directly,  beginners French lessons, Scholarships  submission to French Universities, networking and so many more.
